Equitable Fast Access programmes have been introduced in Belgium

From 1 January 2026, Early and Equitable Fast Access programmes have been introduced in Belgium. The initiative aims to provide patients with unmet medical needs quicker access to innovative treatments before or immediately after official marketing authorization. Overseen by the CATT/CAIT, these programmes bridge the gap between clinical development and standard health insurance coverage.
Specific criteria, such as impact on life expectancy and treatment effectiveness, are used to define which conditions qualify for this prioritised path.
